The Waha Rumaki and Pacific Immersion Teacher's Allowance is an allowance that supports certificated kaiako working in kaupapa Māori immersion and bilingual early learning services. This screen is used to submit the Waha Rumaki/Pita Return.

MoE Licence
To be eligible for Waha Rumaki/PITA allowances, the Licensee of the Service must apply for a new license. Once the license has been received, add the new license under Centre > License ensuring, Puna Reo, Reo Rua Education and Care, Leo o Fanau Moana Immersion or Leo Fanau Moana Billingual is selected.
Alternatively, email a copy of the letter for change of service type and the license to help@infocaresolutions.co.nz and a team member will add the new license.

Note: If the MoE license is not updated, the Waha Rumaki/PITA Return option will not be available in Infocare.



Eligible Employees
The employee profile screen will need to be updated for all eligible certificated teachers/kaiako.


Update the employees information in the Employee Menu > Select the applicable Employee > Select Edit > Use the drop down box under the heading Qualification to select the relevant years of experience > enter the employees contracted hours of work per year > enter the employees contracted FTE and Update.

Note: If the MoE License has not been updated, the Waha Rumaki section will not be available under the Employee profile in Infocare.


Waha Rumaki/PITA Reporting

Service's licensed for Waha Rumaki/PITA must submit a Return at the beginning of each month. 
The return must be submitted during the application open dates stipulated by the Ministry of Education, this is generally the first 7 business days of each month.

If the Return is not submitted electronically during the open dates, a manual application form will need to be requested from the Ministry of Education. 


The Funding Contact for the Service is responsible for completing the declaration and submiting the Waha Rumaki/PITA Return. 

The complete the Waha Rumaki/PITA return, select Reports > MoE Reports > Waha Rumaki/PITA Return.
To begin completing the Return select Create. 


  • Complete the declaration and select Create
  • You will then return to the previous screen, click on the modify icon on the right hand side of the draft return, a list of eligible teachers will be displayed
  • Fields highlighted in Red indicates information is missing or incomplete
  • To correct the data return to the Employee Menu and enter/modify the information for each employee

Once all fields are clear from red highlights select Submit.

Once submitted, you can change the Status to "Submitted" to view your submission, which can also be printed if desired. Select "All" from the Status dropdown box, to view created/auditing and submitted Returns.
